The Angler 270 inflatable boat from Rboat

Carp Collect'or spent a week testing the new Angler 270 with an Airdeck (inflatable) floor, kindly loaned by Rboat and one of its ambassadors. The test took place on a large reservoir (over 1000 hectares), with the boat fully loaded for a fishing session, powered by a 4 HP combustion engine to reach the swim , and a 45 lb electric motor to deploy the rigs.

Our opinion:

The inflatable boat, rolled up with the inflatable floor inside, was quick and easy to set up, aided by the flow of an optional electric pump. The flat bottom didn't hinder navigation, and drift during unloading remained minimal. A keel would have been a welcome addition at the end of the session for returning to the launch ramp and better handling in waves, given the strong headwind (around 50 km/h), even though the loaded boat performed well.

We liked it:

• The overall quality, and in particular the high-frequency welding (HFW) process used to weld the main tire fittings, is currently described as the most efficient for multi-layer PVC fabrics. The resulting welds are renowned for their durability and resistance, regardless of ambient temperature. Furthermore, the manufacturer's warranty is 5 years.

• General characteristics of the boat : diameter of the tubes, thickness and density of the canvas, moderate weight, internal width, volume and load capacity...

• His complete equipment.

• The black color is very effective and the logo is understated.

• The practicality and stability of the Airdeck floor .

We would have liked:

To handle windy conditions, an inflatable keel would have been a welcome addition to this 270. It's actually featured on the Angler 300 (€1339) and 330 (€1429) models , which should appeal to those who love the great lakes. Good news for those who absolutely want to stick with a 270: BOART will offer it with a keel from 2026 onwards , and it will be compatible with engines up to 8 hp . There will then be a wide range of particularly high-quality options to choose from!

This 270 is an excellent compromise between weight, size, cargo capacity, and handling, capable of handling light wind conditions on lakes. Those who prefer larger lakes might consider the 300 or 330 models, which can be equipped with 10 or 15 hp engines .
